Marketing Communications Manager


BACKGROUND

Founded in 2014, Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) is the leader in the K-12 personal finance space with more than 55,000 middle and high school teachers who rely on NGPF’s engaging, hands-on personal finance curriculum and professional development workshops. 

We’re on a mission to ensure that all students cross their high school graduation stage having taken a personal finance class by 2030 [Mission 2030]. We want to move from a society where adults often say “this is a class that I wish I had” to one where they say “that’s a class that I’m glad that I had.” 

To achieve this goal, we create no-cost middle school and high school curricula, offer no-cost teacher professional development workshops, and lead advocacy efforts to increase student access to personal finance education.

We are looking for a passionate and energetic professional to manage our communications, social media, and PR efforts. 

Next Gen Personal Finance is based out of Palo Alto, California. However, this role can be based anywhere in the United States. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage creation and edits of all internal and external communications materials for NGPF which currently include: 2-3 email campaigns per week, daily blog posts, monthly newsletters, website copy, various virtual assets, and press releases 
  • Develop and execute media pitch ideas to continue increasing awareness of NGPF and its mission
  • Oversee phases of outreach from messaging strategy to language and material development
  • Responsible for ensuring www.ngpf.org content is always up-to-date; work with website and operations team members to align content across all external facing NGPF platforms 
  • Collaborate with creative brand manager to build brand awareness and support continuity of brand across all internal and external communications
  • Manage NGPF social accounts including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram 
  • Gather quarterly communications analytics for review with leadership
  • Perform as-needed tasks which contribute to the achievement of organizational goals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mission-oriented with desire to increase access to personal financial education for all
  • 2+ years of proven success in communications, journalism, digital marketing, or related field
  • Experience managing high volume content operations or similar projects against deadlines 
  • Excellent copywriting, editing, presentation, and storytelling skills 
  • Experience building user communication journeys
  • Strong understanding of SEO 
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand various aspects of a company 
  • Experience with Mailchimp required
  • Proficiency in Google Suites required
  • Experience in social media campaign creation preferred
  • Experience in gathering and disseminating social media and comms analytics preferred
  • Strong commitment to culturally responsive and diverse thoughts and language
  • Mission-oriented with desire to increase access to personal financial education for all
  • Proven ability to work successfully and autonomously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree required 

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

The salary for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 (commensurate with relevant experience) with a comprehensive benefits package that includes but is not limited to: team bonus program, 401(k) matching contributions, donation matching program, and health care stipend.

Ideal start date would be February 1, 2022 or before
