Kit has been a corporate lawyer throughout his career, focusing on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and start-up companies. He serves as Lead Independent Director and advisor to NGPF and NGPF Mission Fund 2030.
Kit has been a corporate lawyer throughout his career. He was a partner at Latham & Watkins until 2018, when he formed Kit Kaufman, Counsel to Independent Directors. He has focused on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings of securities, and start-up companies.
Kit serves both as Lead Independent Director and as an advisor to Next Gen Personal Finance and NGPF Mission Fund 2030. Kit also serves as a board member of a number of privately held technology companies. Kit graduated from Amherst College and Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Harvard Law Review.
An Huang Chen is a native Californian and school board trustee for Hillsborough City School District since 2018. She brings a background in healthcare consulting, hospitality, and decades of nonprofit board service.
An Huang Chen is a native Californian who after 30 years in DC had the opportunity to return to her hometown in the Bay Area. She has served as school board trustee for Hillsborough City School District since 2018 and is grateful to be contributing to the community that raised her and her daughter, Patti.
An has dedicated her time to a variety of organizations including Stanford Health Care Facilities Committee which opened a $1 billion new hospital months before the pandemic of 2020. She has also served on the boards of the San Mateo School Boards Association, Hillsborough Recreation Commission, UCSC Arts Advocacy Council, San Mateo County Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Committee, Hillsborough Beautification Foundation, Hillsborough Schools Foundation, Self Help for the Elderly and the San Francisco Symphony.
An studied Business Administration at Georgetown University and spent the majority of her professional career as a founding member at The Advisory Board Company, traveling to work with hospitals and health systems in the US and abroad to strengthen their product lines and better serve their patients. An put her hospitality experience to good work and helped to build and manage the The Clement Intercontinental Hotel in Monterey, CA which has been recognized multiple times as the top service provider for all Intercontinental Hotels in the Americas.
An finds joy in mentoring the next generation of business leaders and works regularly with the Growth Team at DC based start up Veris Insights. Most importantly, An finds pockets of joy traveling the world with her daughter, bakes every morning and has fostered almost 200 puppies.
Gary Hornbeek is a CPA, independent consultant, and retired CFO most recently at Quicken Inc. He joined NGPF's board in 2024 and serves on the Audit Committee, bringing decades of financial leadership experience.
Gary Hornbeek, a Certified Public Accountant, brings extensive financial expertise as an independent consultant and retired Chief Financial Officer. His most recent role was as CFO at Quicken Inc., a personal financial management software company, where he joined during its transition to a private company after being spun out of Intuit.
Following his retirement, Gary began his involvement with NGPF in 2024 and currently serves on the company's Audit Committee. Gary launched his career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse and later held key leadership positions at prominent software companies, including BILL, NetSuite, and PayCycle. Committed to community engagement, Gary dedicates volunteer time to non-profits such as the Positive Coaching Alliance and the Center for Social Sector Leadership at UC Berkeley. He is an alumnus of the Haas School of Business at Cal.
Patrick Purcell is an education technology executive with 25+ years leading strategy and product at Apple, Coursera, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and the NYC Department of Education.
Patrick Purcell is a seasoned education technology executive with more than 25 years of experience leading strategy, product, and content development across the education and technology sectors. He has held senior management and policy roles in both the public and private sectors, overseeing large, cross-functional teams and the delivery of global curriculum and assessment programs.
He currently leads Apple's Product Marketing Education team, developing software and services that support K–12 educators, students, and institutions globally. He previously managed Apple's Worldwide Education Policy and Advocacy team, including key initiatives focused on assessment and student data privacy.
Previously, Patrick held leadership roles at Coursera, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and the New York City Department of Education where he focused on expanding access to high-quality learning experiences, scaling digital platforms, and launching innovative classroom tools for teaching. He is a trusted advisor on digital transformation, governance, and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies in education.
Patrick holds a BA in Economics from Cornell University, a master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Seyonne is a Partner at Stepstone Group, focusing on venture capital and growth equity fund, direct and secondary investments. She holds Board/observer seats at several portfolio companies and serves on LP Advisory Committees for many early stage venture capital funds.
Seyonne is a Partner at Stepstone Group, focusing on venture capital and growth equity fund, direct and secondary investments. Seyonne holds Board/observer seats at several portfolio companies, in addition to serving on the Limited Partner Advisory Committees for many early stage venture capital funds. Previously, she spent seven years in investment management firms with a focus on private capital. Before moving into investment management, Seyonne spent about a decade on Wall Street in institutional equities where she served in a variety of functions, including software equity research and distribution of IPO's, follow-on offerings, convertible financings, and equity research, most recently at Morgan Stanley.
Seyonne earned an AB with honors from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley. She serves as a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan and as a Board and Investment Committee Member for Mather Foundation.
Tim Ranzetta co-founded Next Gen Personal Finance in 2014 after seeing the impact of financial education while teaching at Eastside College Prep. He has established an endowment to provide all curriculum and PD at no cost to schools.
Tim Ranzetta co-founded the non-profit, Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF), in 2014 after seeing the impact of financial education while teaching a course he developed at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, California. The first-gen students' engagement level and their parents' interest convinced him of the transformative effect of this education both inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to co-founding the organization, he has established an endowment to provide all of its curriculum and professional development at no cost to schools.
NGPF (www.ngpf.org) provides free curriculum, professional development, and advocacy tools to over 75,000 teachers who reach over 3 million high school students in the U.S. The company's goal is referred to as Mission 2030 when ALL high school students will take a personal finance course providing them with the financial skills they need to thrive in the future.
Prior to founding NGPF, Tim co-founded several companies including an information security company (acquired by Recall Secure Destruction Services), the nation's leading compensation and corporate governance research firm (Equilar), and a student loan research firm (Student Lending Analytics). He began his career as a management consultant at Bain and Company. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree in Commerce with Distinction and received his M.B.A. at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Greer Ahlquist is COO at NGPF, overseeing Curriculum, PD, Marketing, Product, and Teacher Success. Previously Senior Program Director at EducationSuperHighway, and a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Greer Ahlquist is Chief Operating Officer at NGPF, where she oversees internal operations and leads the Curriculum, Professional Development, Marketing, Product, and Teacher Success teams. Prior to NGPF, Greer spent six years at EducationSuperHighway, most recently as Senior Program Director, where she built cross-functional teams and designed programs to close the classroom connectivity gap.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and at the Charter School Growth Fund, supporting investment decisions to scale charter school networks. Greer holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University.
