Think Halloween and Personal Finance have nothing in common? Think again! Bring the spirit of Halloween into your classroom with a new activity: Escape from the Haunted Mansion!
This Google Form virtual escape room has students solve a series of personal finance related mysteries to find the Golden Budget Book!
Featuring spooky Halloween language and images, your students will be immersed in a Halloween activity they’re sure to remember!
PREMISE: As the sun sets, the towering Hawthorn Mansion casts its shadows over the town of Elmridge. Its former owner, Lord Alistair Hawthorn, vanished on a Halloween night, leaving behind a vast fortune and the Golden Budget Book. This ledger holds the keys to financial wisdom but is guarded by complex challenges. Many have tried to conquer these trials and failed. Now, as another Halloween descends, the mansion's gates creak open. Will you solve the riddles to claim the Golden Budget Book, or be just another soul bested by Hawthorn Mansion's mysteries? The clock is ticking; the gates close at midnight, sealing the mansion for another year. Your quest begins now. May wit and wisdom be your allies.

Sonia has always been passionate about instruction and improving students' learning experiences. She's come a long way since her days as a first grader, when she would "teach" music and read to her very attentive stuffed animals after school. Since then, she has taught students as a K-12 tutor, worked in several EdTech startups in the Bay Area, and completed her Ed.M in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is passionate about bringing the high quality personal finance content and instruction she wished she'd received in school to the next generation of students and educators. When she isn't crafting lesson guides or working with teachers, Sonia loves to spend her time singing, being outdoors, and adventuring with family and friends!
