Question of the Day: How many years has the typical American homeowner been in their current home?

Is homeownership still part of the American Dream or are people moving on faster than ever?

Answer: 11.8 years

Questions:

  • What do you think would make someone want to stay in a home for over a decade? What might make someone want to move sooner?
  • Do you think homeownership is still a good financial goal for young people today? Why or why not?
  • What personal or financial factors should someone consider before deciding to buy a home?

Here's the ready-to-go slides for this Question of the Day that you can use in your classroom.
