Rising Cost of Streaming

Streaming started off as a cheaper alternative to cable…but is it still?

The Wall Street Journal’s chart - shown here on Flowing Data - shows how streaming services are only getting more expensive.

Questions:

  • Do you or your family subscribe to any of these streaming services?
    • How much did you pay when you first started your subscription?
    • How much do you pay now?
  • Why do you think streaming services keep increasing their prices?
  • Is there a price point at which you would consider canceling your subscription? Why or why not?
  • What alternatives do consumers have if they choose not to pay for streaming?
