MATH Monday: Percentages and Income Tax Brackets

This week on NGPF's MATH Monday, we are diving into the PERCENTAGES and income taxes! Brush up your own math skills or use these resources with your students to teach them the math behind how Federal tax brackets work.

  1. View the MATH Collection: Have your students practice find how much they owe in taxes and how to calculate percents in the activity MATH: Income Tax Brackets!
  2. Formula of the Day: Introduce this formula to students by explaining that this will provide them with how to find their taxable income using their gross income and that year's updated standard deduction. Additionally, students will need to know how to calculate percentages.

3. Watch the EdPuzzle Video: Your students can also watch the LEARN IT EdPuzzle video that is linked at the top of the activity, where they can practice calculating their taxable income, reading a tax bracket table, and finding how much they owe in Federal taxes based on how much they made in the calendar year.

4. For Your Learning: Join Yanely and Abby for as they will review activities like this and dive into how to use the new MATH Collection while teaching remotely!
